Statements
“It was tough for us to play against their spinners. It was always about preparing for the Asia Cup. I think we are doing really well as a team. We have ticked most of the boxes, we are in good shape and ready for the Asia Cup.”
Salman Agha [Pakistan Captain]
Salman Agha's word
Salman Agha stated already that despite playing against top spinners of Afghanistan, they managed to win. He added their preparation and readiness towards Asia Cup 2025.
“That was the kind of total. The wicket was there to chase. We didn't play the brand of cricket we wanted to play. We lost five wickets in the power play. I wasn't expecting it to spin so much. It proved to be a different wicket. In T20 cricket, you hardly have any time to come back. We got a chance to understand the conditions before the Asia Cup. I think we haven't played much T20 cricket in the last 8–9 months. This has helped us ahead of the Asia Cup, it will help us as a team”- said
Rashid Khan [Afghanistan captain]
Rashid Khan's word
Rashid Khan, captain of Afghanistan takes this defeat as a lesson before the Asia Cup that they need to prepare hard for this T20 format and expresses his grief towards his team’s unexpected defeat.
“The plan was very simple. We knew the pitch was difficult to bat on, and we felt we had enough runs. Our focus was on disciplined bowling, sticking to line and length, and it worked. After my first two balls, I noticed there was spin, so I adjusted the pace accordingly. I bowled within the stumps, keeping the pads in view. I'm feeling really good and in rhythm, and having that control gives me confidence to stick with the plan. I try to keep it simple and execute plans properly. At that point in the innings, we needed partnerships. It wasn't easy to go after their spinners — they're world-class — but we managed to recover and aimed for 140. Thankfully, we got there.”
