Gautam Gambhir was a great run scorer in the Ranji Trophy. In December 2017, he became the fourth batsman from Delhi to score more than 6000 runs for the Delhi State Team in the Ranji Trophy. Earlier, this feat was achieved by Mithun Manhas, Ajay Sharma, and Raman Lamba.

In the 2017-18 Ranji Trophy semi final against Bengal, he scored another century. In December 2018, he ended his first class cricket career, after scoring a century (112 runs off 185 balls) against Andhra team, at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium.
