ToggleIndia vs Australia Women:
As excitement builds for the Women’s World Cup 2025, the tournament enters the semifinal phase. On Thursday, October 30, India will take on defending champions Australia at DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, while on Wednesday, England will face South Africa in Guwahati. Both matches have reserve days, in case rain disrupts play and the contest continues despite any inclement weather.
Australia is the only undefeated team in the tournament and has won six out of seven games before the semifinals, and is at the top of the points table with 13 points.
India, with an inconsistent record, will want to turn the tables and qualify for the final. The performance of the hosts will be weighed heavily and scrutinised in the semis.
For England, third on the points table with nine points will give them an opportunity to jump into second with a BIG win over New Zealand to qualify for a semifinal spot.
South Africa, with five games won, will want to overturn their past failures and try to qualify for the final.
It is anticipated that the weather will have a major effect on the semifinal matches. While it may be raining in Guwahati, there could be hassle-free play in Navi Mumbai; however, the dark clouds could lead to a thunder shower.
To facilitate the completion of the matches, as specified in ICC playing conditions, a reserve day has been scheduled for both semifinals and for the final on November 2.
The match will be played again on the reserve day if it is stopped due to weather (same situation for both of the semifinals and the final). In that case, the match will restart from where it was suspended.
If no result can be obtained even after the reserve day, the team that is higher on the points table will advance to the final. If the final cannot be resolved, the trophy will be shared by the two competing teams, with the tournament ending in joint winners.
The women’s match between India and Australia is a rematch of the semifinal round of the 2017 women’s World Cup, when the Australians emerged victorious.
With the anticipation escalating and the rain clouds moving in, the stakes have never been higher for these teams as they play not only for a spot in the final but also for the opportunity to write history at the 2025 Women’s World Cup.
