Early life and Education
Sachin Tendulkar was born on 24th April 1973. He was born in the Dadar neighborhood in Mumbai (then Bombay), Maharashtra. His mother, Rajni, worked in an insurance firm, and his father, Ramesh Tendulkar, was a respected Marathi poet and novelist. He has two half-brothers and a half sister.
He spent his early years of life in the Sahitya Sahawas Cooperative Housing Society in Bhandra. He was introduced to cricket in 1984 by his elder brother Ajit (who had earlier played in the Bombay Kanga Cricket League).
In 1987, he went to the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai (then Madras), to get his training as a fast bowler, at the age of 14.
He attended the Indian Education Society’s New English School in Bhandra. Later, he attended Sharadashram Vidyamandir School at the advice of his cricket coach, Ramakant Achrekar.

Domestic Cricket Career

International Cricket Career
His international Cricket career spanned 24 years, from 1989 to 2013. He holds many batting records and is known as the “God of Cricket”.
Sachin Tendulkar made his international debut for India on 15th November 1989, against Pakistan. He was just 16 years old then.
He scored 215 runs at an average of 35.83 in the test series.
He made his One-Day International Debut on 18th December 1989 against Pakistan in Gujranwala.
He made 117 runs with an average of 29.25 in tests in the tour of New Zealand.
On 14th August, 1990, on a tour to England, he emerged as the second youngest cricketer to make a century in a test (in the second test in Manchester, he made 119 not out).
During the 1996 World Cup, he became the tournament’s highest run-scorer (523 runs).
He continued to perform consistently in the 2000s. In 2003, he played in the World Cup final and finished as the tournament’s highest run scorer ( he made 673 runs).
He became the first batsman in the history of cricket to score a double century in ODIs (he scored 200 against South Africa), in 2010.
In 2011, he helped India win the ICC Cricket World Cup, held at the Wankhede Stadium.
In 2012, he reached the milestone of 100 international centuries, a record that remains unbroken.
He retired from ODIs in December 2012. In 2013, he played his final test match against the West Indies at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
